Programs
- Thunder Valley Community House - The community house is used for traditional Lakota ceremonies, community gatherings, youth meetings and general community events.
- Youth Leadership Development - The youth leadership development program empowers youth to learn about Lakota culture, history, environmental justice, political education, community organizing, healthy lifestyles and sacred sites.
- Renewable Energy - We plan to use renewable technologies such as wind and solar energy to make the Thunder Valley Community House self-sustaining, and in the building of our Wellness Center.
- Lakota Culture and Oral Tradition - Through this program, respected elders will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and wisdom with youth and young families in the community.
- Cultural and Spiritual Outreach - Thunder Valley is part of a growing cultural and spiritual movement in Indigenous communities. Members of the Thunder Valley community are often invited to other Native communities to assist with healing ceremonies for youth and families.
- Community Development Projects - We are in the early stages of three community development projects. These projects will carry our work forward into job creation and economic infrastructure for Thunder Valley.
- Thunder Valley Wellness Center - We plan to build a state-of-the-art youth and family wellness center, a positive place for youth and their families to begin living a healthier way of life.
- Master Community Development Plan - We are in the process of creating a community development and land use plan for the Thunder Valley Community.
