Lenny Lone Hill

Lenny is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Tribe, Pine Ridge Reservation. He graduated from the local high school in Pine Ridge, South Dakota and went on to graduate at Western Dakota Technical Institute with an Associate of Applied Science degree in general construction. That gave him the skills to build over 165 single-family homes on Pine Ridge as a business owner and as a construction trainer working with hundreds of Lakota youth.  He has worked in the construction industry for the past 35 years on and off the Reservation. His most recent position was with Oglala Lakota College as a General Construction Instructor under the Applied Science Department.  Lenny is currently teaching sustainable construction skills to young adults in our Workforce Development Program to not only address our extreme housing crisis but also to give our young people the confidence and skill sets to do powerful things that shape what Lakota community will look like in this day and age.  “It’s good to teach these young people,” he says. “And they also teach me a little something everyday.”
