Christina Johnston-Giago is an enrolled member of the Diné tribe and an enrolled Ojibwe Treaty Indian from Pine Falls, Manitoba, Canada. She attended the University of New Mexico before marrying into the Pine Ridge community and moved to the reservation eight years ago. Her belief in the Lakota way of life is of the utmost importance and she believes her purpose is to ensure that her children live to protect and carry these life ways into the future. Her two youngest children have been attending the Lakota Immersion Daycare and to ensure their fluency in the Lakota language made the decision to leave her job at Red Cloud Indian School of almost four years to join the fight to help ensure the language still exists for future generations. All she wants most in the world is to grow old with her family and listen to her grandchildren speak Lakota to one another.
